Public to discuss ideas for district's future

A the Nov. 5 meeting, Pastel was questioned by community members about her plan to study grade shifts and bringing a preschool program to Waterman School. Though these options could still be possible, the district will take a step back to consider a wider variety of ideas, she said at the meeting.

Community input, such as the online petition circulated in late October and the comments at recent meetings, has caused the district to start with a clean slate and to seek broader ideas and alternatives, said Pastel.

The overarching goal is to maintain excellence at a time of declining enrollment and budgetary challenges, she said.
