Lakers blank Hoosick Falls, 2-0, in regional final

“It’s nice always to score early and be ahead,” she said. "But the game’s a long game.”

But the Lakers' defense, led by seniors Holly Gamlen, Maddy Langey and Maureen Milmoe, stayed true, rejecting any attempts at shots by the Panthers. And those shots that did reach goalie Kimber Nourse got turned away, Nourse earning six saves for the shutout.

“I said if we get the opportunity to take some corners and get some corners, hopefully we can score off the corners,” Scheftic said.

Thanks to McLaughlin, Cazenovia got those chances early, capitalized on them - and earned one more week of work, plus a shot at another state title.
