— The Shacksboro Schoolhouse Museum's seventh annual Peony Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at 46 Canton St. in McHarrie Park, Baldwinsville. Admission is free to this event featuring artists, musicians and peonies among the highlights. Many exhibiting artists will be demonstrating as well as offering their work for sale.

Kay Miracle-Burke will again head the musicians’ roster. Winner of multiple SAMMY awards for both original composition and performance, Miracle-Burke will appear solo as well as with her new trio that includes Dave Curtis and Mike Sims. “Kay and the Cavemen” will present all original music when it’s their turn at the mike.

Additional solo performances will be presented by Sims, a 35-year member of the Syracuse music scene, and Dave Curtis, whom Kay describes as “a B’ville native and phenomenal country artist.” Baldwinsville native Sweet Lou will also be on stage. Announcement of additional musicians is expected shortly.

Peony Fest will also feature a bake sale, garden talks, demonstrations, exhibits and a peony bloom contest. Contestants are encouraged to bring their best peony blossom to enter in the contest.

For those interested in purchasing a historic peony, orders will be taken that day. The peonies are from the museum’s heritage peony collection, which is expected to be at peak bloom during fest time.
