COLUMN: Library Focus - The library will be closed May 26 and 27

— Like this on again, off again weather, I am not ready for summer. Unfortunately, it’s coming anyway whether we’re ready or not. Stop in, online or in person, and we’ll help you get ready or maybe we’ll help you procrastinate more creatively. Either way, the library is here to help you.

Storing and sharing digital photos

Wired Wednesday offers two photography related courses this month: on May 22, we’ll show you how to manage and store your digital photos, and on May 29 we’ll show you how to share your photographic treasures with others.

Spring clearance

Still too wet to garden? Get out of the house and clean out your old projects. If you sew, knit or crochet, bring a project and work on it from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, in our community room with others who are working on their needlework.

Friday Tech Drop In

Bring us your smartphones, ereaders and laptops that you are yearning to use freely, but have not quite figured out yet, and we will do our best to help set you on the road to mastery from 10 a.m. to noon every Friday in the computer classroom.

Holiday closing

The library will be closed May 26 and 27 for the Memorial Day holiday.

Last Thursday Book Club

Join the group from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month to discuss fiction and nonfiction with a historical focus. For May, we are reading “Haven: The Dramatic Story of 1,000 World War II Refugees and How They Came to America,” by Ruth Gruber. Some copies of a young adult book on the same topic will also be available: “Good night, Maman,” by Norma Fox Mazer. Anyone can borrow a copy of these books at the Circulation Desk; ask for the Last Thursday Book Club book for the month.

That’s it for the moment because we’re still busy on our June schedule. Tune in next week for the important details.

Valerie Chism is the young adult librarian at the Baldwinsville Public Library.
