BVC to host Taste of Vegas Casino Night

— Get ready for a night out Vegas-style.

The Baldwinsville Volunteer Center will present a new, exciting fundraiser called Taste of Vegas from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 8. The setting for the event will be the spacious banquet room at the Clarion Inn on Farrell Road.

“For all those Elvis fans, we have hired Velvet Elvis, an Elvis impersonator from Buffalo who will be entertaining throughout the evening, so bring your dancing shoes,” said Nancy Conley, executive director of the BVC.

According to Conley, all non-profits struggle to bring in enough revenue to keep the doors open.

“This year marks our 15th anniversary as an independent agency and it was time to add some new fundraising events to raise some much needed funds,” she said. “The goal is always to try to keep the fun in fundraising and we think our Taste of Vegas will do just that.”

Event attendees will be given $100 in chips to play a wide variety of casino games including Texas Hold ‘em, Roulette, Black Jack and Craps. There will be 15 gaming tables in all, so there will be plenty of space for everyone and dealers will not only entertain, but will help players unfamiliar with casino games. The tables will be open from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. and attendees will also be able to buy more chips to continue playing.

In addition to the gambling, the $25 ticket price includes light appetizers and a dessert bar with treats being donated by Tabatha’s, Canal Walk Café and JessShare Cookies. There will also be a full cash bar available at this adult-only event.

Frank Carapella, a dedicated BVC supporter, is serving as chairperson of the Taste of Vegas event.

“We are very fortunate to have Frank,” Conley said. “Not only did Frank step up to volunteer, but his wife, Lisa, and daughter, Meghan, have, too. It’s so wonderful to have an entire family join together to support us – they have brought a lot of enthusiasm to make this event a success.”

Other committee members include Audrey Jones, Barb Presley and Maggie Scholten.

Tickets are now on sale at the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center (44 Oswego St.) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, through the mail and online at tasteofvegas.eventbrite.com.

“We are still looking for some more table sponsors and also donations for the prize baskets,” Conley said, adding that those interested should contact her at 638-0251.
