It was apparent to us that Katleski won many supporters at that meeting, and reassured people who liked the brewery idea but had some concerns.
On Monday, May 13, the village planning board, according to our sources, was expected to recommend that the village board of trustees approve Empire Brewing Company’s application for a zone change on its Route 13 property from residential to commercial. (The meeting occurred after press time.) Without this zone change, the brewery project will not come to fruition.
We agree with the planning board’s (expected) decision, and, when the village board meets on May 20 to make its decision on the issue, we urge them to approve Empire’s application for a zone change and get the brewery project moving forward to the benefit of Cazenovia.
