Baldwinsville Empower Federal Credit Union presents the 21st Annual AIDS Walk/Run Sunday, June 2, at Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville.
Benefiting AIDS Community Resources, the event features a 5K fundraising walk and a 10K timed run with free food, drinks, and prizes. Participants are encouraged to fundraise a minimum of $25; those who raise more receive great incentives. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the AIDS Walk/Run beginning at 10 a.m., rain or shine.
The AIDS Walk Run started in 1993 as a way to support HIV prevention outreach for youth through the newly created Teen AIDS Task Force. One hundred percent of the money raised stays in Central New York to benefit ACR’s youth HIV/STD prevention programs and client support services. Now in its 21st year, the AIDS Walk/Run is AIDS Community Resources’ largest outreach and fundraising event in Central New York.
Organizers encourage participants to take on the RED Rockstar Challenge, a new feature of the event this year. Participate in Fleet Feet’s RUNapalooza on June 1 at Onondaga Community College and the AIDS Walk/Run June 2 and be entered to win the RED Rockstar Getaway.
