Baldwinsville A 6-year-old girl was trapped in a vehicle after a late morning crash yesterday.
At 11:40 a.m. May 1, a Ford Econoline van operated by Tory Roberts, 25, of Liverpool, was traveling north on East Mud Lake Road in the Town of Lysander. Roberts stopped his vehicle at a two-way stop sign at the intersection of Church Road. Roberts proceeded through the intersection and did not notice a Honda mini-van, operated by Stephanie Hines, 35, of Baldwinsville, traveling west on Church Road also at the intersection. Robert’s vehicle T-boned Hines’ vehicle causing the minivan to overturn. The minivan then came to rest on its wheels trapping Hines’ 6-year-old daughter in the rear passenger seat.
Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Melissa Berlinski attempted to stabilize the 6-year-old, however lacerated her arm on broken glass from the rear window.
The 6-year-old, who was in a booster seat, was extricated by fire personnel on scene and was transported to University Hospital with a leg injury. Hines sustained minor injuries to her arm, and Roberts was uninjured. Sgt. Berlinski was also treated at University Hospital.
Roberts was issued a ticket for failing to yield the right of way. The un-posted speed limit at the accident location is 55 mph.
