Village plans 10th annual Earth Day cleanup event

— The Village of Baldwinsville will hold a community Earth Day cleanup in partnership with OCRRA on Saturday, April 13, and is looking for interested groups or individuals to participate. This cleanup will take place along designated banks and shore areas of the Seneca River located in Mercer, Community and Canal parks, Meadow Street and the Sergei Yevich Trail as well as other areas of the village.

This cleanup signifies the 10th such effort of the village’s stormwater management program, which took effect on March 10, 2003, and requires the village to reduce the contaminants and solids that are entering these waters. The Earth Day cleanup is one of the many management tools the Village will use to achieve the program’s goals.

In the past seven years both Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, The Optimist Club, Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce, school groups, individuals and families have participated in this effort. Groups interested in lending a helping hand during this three-hour Earth Day event held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., contact the Village of Baldwinsville Department of Public Works at 635-9665 or the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency for additional information, sign up forms and locations available for clean up.
