— Spring vacation camp

Beaver Lake Nature Center's Spring Vacation Camp is the perfect way for first through fourth graders to spend spring break (from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 1 to 5). Students will enjoy their time off from school playing nature-themed games, hiking with friends and making cool, crafty creations. Spring break week

There will be plenty of things for folks to do at Beaver Lake Nature Center during the week of school vacation April 1 to 5, all free with admission. The following activities will take place Monday through Friday of that week.

10 a.m. Sounds of Beaver Lake, an interactive presentation exploring animal sounds.

10:30 a.m. Listening walk with a naturalist

11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Children's crafts in the visitor center

1 p.m. Featured Creature Talk - Learn about an animal that lives around Beaver Lake

1:30 p.m. Exploring with a naturalist, you never know what you'll discover on the trail

Throughout each day, children can participate in the following activities:

Beetle spotting: a children's beetle search along a trail; and

Children's photo hunt: Children are invited to bring a digital point-and-shoot to the arboretum to search for leaves and trees that match the clues on this fun photo scavenger hunt. From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., they can choose a photo they took during the scavenger hunt to have printed out for free, courtesy of the Beaver Lake Nature Center Photo Club (excluding photos from cell phone cameras).

Super-natural Egg-stravaganza

On Saturday, April 6, Beaver Lake Nature Center's Super-natural Egg-stravaganza allows children to discover the challenge of searching for hidden eggs that are sporting their natural spots and camouflage colors not dyed hot pink and fluorescent blue. After the fun of the egg hunt, families are invited to stay awhile to explore the amazing science of eggs. Registration required as this program for children up to 10 years old fills quickly; $6 per child.
