Baldwinsville The five winners of the February 2013 raffle drawing were as follows: first prize of $250, Bill Mercer; second prize of $100, CWA Local 1152; third prize of $50, Jack Osinski (each also won a Cuisinart electric appliance); and Bob Shea and John Ippolito, fourth and fifth prize winners, respectively, who each won a Cuisinart electric can opener.
The Baldwinsville Lions greatly appreciate the generosity of all those who purchased raffle tickets. Many thanks to IBEW Local 43 and CWA Local 1152 for purchasing a number of raffle tickets. A special thanks to CWA Local 1152 for donating back to the Lion’s Club their second place prize.
The Baldwinsville Lions address various needs in the area of sight conservation. Eye exams and eyeglasses are provided for those in need, especially school children. A relatively new area is “Project See,” a photo screening program for young children to detect amblyopia (lazy eye). The local Lions also support Guiding Eye and Leader Dogs.
The Lion’s Clubhouse at the Baldwinsville Community Park is maintained by the Baldwinsville Lions. This is the site of the Baldwinsville Lions Juvenile Diabetes Day Camp. It is also used for rental by families and groups. Lions meet there from May through October on the first and third Wednesdays.
Along with helping youth in various areas of sight conservation, a scholarship is offered each year to a special needs student at Baker High School. Both adults and youth are helped with various donations to the Christmas Bureau, the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center, Meals on Wheels and individual needs as they arise.
Thanks again to all those who supported us in our recent raffle.
