Lorene Dadey: I believe I am the best candidate for mayor because of my diverse background. I have experience with both village and town budgets, as well as the employees and department heads. I am the former mayor, deputy mayor and trustee of the village, as well as a former town of DeWitt board member. My husband and I have owned and operated Sunshine’s Coffee Shop, located in the town of DeWitt for the last 33 years. With the economy being down, we have had to make major changes in how we do business and cut out any unnecessary spending to remain self-employed.

My first goal as mayor would be to eliminate the $3500 expense account dedicated to the mayor. I would evaluate engineering fees and other professional fees to ensure we are getting the best value for our money. Another important goal of mine is to have a more transparent government where we work with the people of our great community to explore new revenue streams and listen to their input and ideas. I will work to encourage business growth and development.

The one thing I think people would be surprised to hear is that I read 2-3 books a week!

Carol Para: I believe I am the best candidate for the position of village trustee because I am a dedicated and trustworthy person. I have experience with fundraising and volunteering. My husband, Keith, and I have lived in the village for 23 years and have raised three children here. Living here for this long has given me the opportunity to learn and understand the needs of this community. I believe that the trustees need to make sure the village is a safe place to raise children. We need to invest in the village’s future by making a strong investment in our children and all residents to ensure a bright future.
