Election Day 2013 cheat sheet

Each candidate speaks out on why they're the best for their potential position and what they plan to do if elected

It is my goal to assist in reducing the village debt by cooperative planning and budgeting. I will look for alternative funding for future projects.

I was an active member of the Salt City Country Two Steppers (a western dance group).

I have performed in the Onondaga Lake Extravaganza.

Daniel Wagner: I have been managing my own business for 30 years and have worked with many companies in implementing computer accounting system to control there business. I have the experience of working with all levels of employees in these companies to accomplish the mutual goal of making their company more productive. I also have an accounting background and I’m willing to do what is best for the taxpayers of the village of East Syracuse, will not let emotions control my decisions.

The village has some very serious financial problems now and for the next five to seven years. Due to the loss of sales tax, tax base and major increases in retirement contributions and health insurance. This is a problem for all governments in the country. I will review with all board personnel, town managers and legal counsel to reduce expenditures for the village with the least effect on services for village taxpayers and minimize tax increases.

I have taken 17 years of ball room dance and love to play the card game pitch.

Donald M. Benack, Jr.: I'm running for re-election as village of East Syracuse justice. I have served the village and its' residents in this capacity for the past six years. The village of East Syracuse has one of the busiest village courts in Onondaga County. I would like to think that I have served with integrity being just but fair.

To continue serving the citizens of the village to the best of my ability.

I am a Judge elected by the people and I am not a politician.
