Optimists announce foul shooting contest winners

— Twenty-nine students from eight Baldwinsville schools participated in the seventh annual Optimist Foul Shooting Contest held Saturday, March 9, at Baker High School. Participants were divided into two categories according to their heights, those under five-feet tall and those five-feet tall or taller. Less than five-feet tall participants shot at a distance one yard closer to the basket from the foul line.

Winners from each category are as follows:

Less than five-feet tall

First place – Ryan Fecco , 12, from Ray Middle School who sank a perfect seven out of seven free throws.

Second place – Michael Carr, 10, from Reynolds School

Third place – Ben Bifulco, 10, from McNamara School

Fourth place – Delaney Colin, 10, from McNamara School

Fifth Place – Jaden White, 12, from Ray Middle School

Five-feet or taller

First place – Liam Wicks, 14, from Durgee Junior High School who also sank a perfect seven out of seven free throws.

Second place – Johnathan Bausch, 14, from Durgee Junior High School

Third place – Michael Brussel, 14, from Durgee Junior High School

Fourth place – Jason Way, age 11, from Ray Middle School who made seven out of seven foul shots for a playoff for fourth place.

Fifth place – Cole Zsemlye, 12, from Ray Middle School

Each winner received a trophy and a prize.
