continued “For me,” Herman said, “this is a new adventure, a chance to make relevant my family history.”
Red Door Artisans is on Route 11, just north of Route 31. Set back from the road a bit, you will not miss the red door. It’s not the original, though.
As a surprise for her, her husband and daughter had local carpenter and Herman’s neighbor, Dan Zollo, craft a built-in display cabinet in one corner of the shop. While the art featured in the shop is beautiful, the cabinet holds its own among riches. Grandma’s original red door, now stripped down to its gleaming oak, is a part of the cabinet.
Herman is happy with the support she has gotten from neighbors in the community. “I find artists or they find me by word of mouth; artists tell other artists and friends tell friends.”
For a wonderful experience, stop in and see what your neighbors create. Store hours are posted on the website (reddoorartisans.com).
