It’s about responsibility

High school students should learn sooner rather than later that in the real world being on time is not only important, it’s necessary. Some college professors lock their doors when class starts and do not allow late students in, or they lower grades for chronic lateness. People who are habitually tardy to their job end up getting fired.

If the school board gives in to the demands of this vocal minority and changes a successful attendance policy merely to placate the angst of irresponsible students, then their priorities must be seriously questioned and their decision-making process on all issues before the board more closely scrutinized by all of us who want elected officials to do what’s right, not what makes a few people feel better.
