Baldwinsville The Baker High School Musical Players will present “42nd Street,” the story of a young actress named Peggy Sawyer who has come to New York City to audition for a new Broadway musical.
Peggy catches the eye of famous director Julian Marsh, and he gives Peggy her big break when the show’s leading lady is injured right before opening night. Panic spreads through the company as the show is doomed for closure until Peggy takes the lead role. In only 36 hours, Peggy must learn 25 pages, six songs and 10 dance numbers in order to become a star and save the show.
“42nd Street” will open at 7 p.m. March 7 with additional shows at 7 p.m. March 8 and at 1 and 7 p.m. March 9 in the Baker High School auditorium. Tickets are $8 to $12 and reservations can be made by calling the box office at 638-6039.
