CACDA promotes recreational tourism with signature project

— The Cazenovia Area Community Development Association (CACDA) Board of Directors has announced their selection for the 2013 CACDA Signature Project. This project will create visibility and encourage use of the vast trail network and recreational amenities in the Cazenovia area. Through comprehensive mapping of local trails, parks and cultural amenities, CACDA will create an activity-driven interactive website — GoCaz.com — that promotes multi-seasonal sports and recreational opportunities. The goal is to launch the website by the end of 2013.

“This is an excellent opportunity to promote our area as a hub for recreational tourism,” said project Chair Jocelyn Gavitt. “Users of the website will be able to select a type of activity (such as hiking, biking, kayaking, cross country skiing, etc.) and then view the relevant maps, pictures and pertinent information such as where to park, difficulty level and other amenities.”

The website will also include information on where to shop, dine and stay overnight. Another goal of the project is to develop and demonstrate how the trails connect to and through the village.

“The goal of selecting a Signature Project is to identify a priority each year that is important to a broad cross-section of the community and inspires collaboration and community involvement,” said CACDA Executive Director Lauren Lines. “This is meant to be a community project and we welcome public involvement. We are so pleased with the positive response and enthusiasm we have received to date.”

The CACDA Board of Directors has initiated an appeal to raise funds to support this project. Members of the community may contribute by visiting cacda.net/annualappeal or by mailing a check to CACDA at 95 Albany St. In addition, contact Lauren Lines at lines@cacda.net to find out more about getting involved with this project.
