Ryan nearly pulls off state championship double

F-M runner prevails in 3,200, takes second in mile

Junior Alana Pearl ran well at 3,000 meters, taking fifth place and shaving nearly six seconds off her qualifying mark as she posted a time of 9:57.51.

To complete his busy day, Ryan went to the 4x800 relay and joined Charlie Beeler, Connor Farrell and Bryce Millar as F-M put up a time of 7:49.93, beating its qualifying standard of 7:51.18 and finishing fifth overall. Chaminade won the race in 7:40.68.

Farrell, teamed with Kyle Barber, Austin Perez and Ed Cheatham, went 3:25.85 for 14th place in Division I (large schools) in the 4x400 relay, where Elmont (3:17.42) won the title.

Among the 24 sprinters in the Division II (small school) 200-meter dash, CBA’s Anna Schug did quite well, the freshman blazing to a time of 25.86 seconds, second in her heat and seventh overall. North Salem’s Noemie Bechu won the race in 24.98 seconds.

Two Jamesville-DeWitt girls also competed in the state meet. Rachel Fairbanks was seventh in Division I and 14th overall in the 800-meter run in 2:16.03, while Patrece Martin went 34 feet 3 inches for 12th place in the Division I triple jump.
