B'ville girls fall to Farmingdale in state finals

Bees unable to answer Dalers' second-half surge

Farmingdale was more comfortable with the faster pace, though, as it got back-to-back goals from Hadnagy (who was named state tournament MVP) to move back in front 6-4. Despite a series of terrific saves from Burrows, the Dalers then saw Turturro and Emily Marlow score 47 seconds apart midway through the half.

One more time, B'ville attempted to come back, as Foote scored with 9:44 left to make it 8-5, but the Dalers forced a turnover on the Bees' next possession and, for the last six-plus minutes, kept possession of the ball.

Burrows, Foote and Pollard each earned All-Tournament team honors, and Rowe said his team's effort compares to that 2000 state championship team, even if it didn't quite go all the way.

"The growth of these girls is just phenomenal," he said. "What they have done is a great accomplishment."
