ESM, F-M, J-D all make Newsweek's best high schools list

Jamesville- Dewitt, Fayetteville- Manlius and East Syracuse Minoa High School have all been named one of America's Best Schools for 2013 by Newsweek. J-D was ranked 561, F-M ranked 606 and ESM came in at number 1,564.

Newsweek's list of the top 2,000 public high schools was released on Juene 6. Newsweek determines the top schools by looking at six components: graduation rate, which is worth 25 percent, college acceptance rate, which is worth 25 percent, AP tests taken per student, which is worth 25 percent, average SAT/ACT scores, which is worth 10 percent, average AP scores, which is worth 10 percent and the percent of students enrolled in at least one AP course, which is worth 5 percent.

Other area schools that made the cut include: Cazenovia High School (903), Skaneateles High School (941), Westhill (1,023), Baker High School (1,068), West Genesee (1,287), Marcellus (1,502) and Cicero-North Syracuse (1,621).
