To the editor:
On behalf of the Skaneateles Library trustees and staff we wish to thank all our volunteers who were so essential in making the 2013 summer book sale a huge success.
Our many volunteers worked cheerfully, despite the heat, to carry out the many tasks involved in setting up and running the four-day sale. The Library could not hold this event without this community effort.
A special thanks to our year-round sorters: Georgina Gregory, Sandy Hadley and Susan Meyer, who work tirelessly to sort all of the donated books into the various categories displayed at the book sale. Also, thank you to our active “Friends of the Library” who organize the spring book donation drive and help to plan this annual event.
Thank you to Kinney’s and Tops Friendly Markets for supplying the sale with plenty of bags and the Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Rescue Mission for all their assistance.
Finally, thank you to everyone in the community who donated used books or came to the sale to buy books! The annual summer book sale is a significant fundraiser for the Skaneateles Library which, as an independent association library, does not receive tax-based funding. Your support of the sale enables the library to continue to provide quality programs and services to our community.
