continued She said the most important thing about cooking is to use fresh ingredients and to buy the best you possibly can. Bailhe’ believes it’s important to know where your produce is coming from and who’s producing it. So, for a year and a half, she documented life on the Gridley Farm, located on Route 5 in Fayetteville, through pictures, which are now on display at the Manlius Historical Society.
“I was stunned by how little I knew about the honorable profession of farming,” she said. “Our country was founded on farming… the Town of Manlius Dairy Farmers Inc. had 204 farms in 1940. In 2009, only two farms were left.”
In fact, Bailhe’ even made a point to write about the Gridley Farm in the story – little turtle and the great dane make a point to stop there as one of their destinations.
The book was published on June 4 and Bailhe’ is already looking toward the future and is hoping to schedule book signings in the CNY area and then tour the country and eventually, she’d like to promote it in Europe. Bailhe’s background is in marketing and advertising - her father owned an ad agency in New York City, where she worked after college and she takes promotion seriously. (Bailhe’ ALSO published "Syracuse Homes Magazine" and owned Media Work Advertising firm and later MarketShare Plus Advertising /Marketing company.) She said she now spends four hours a day online promoting, writing, blogging and facebooking about herbook.
In the meantime, she’s already working on her second book. “I swore I would neverwrite another cook book and I’ve already started it. This is insane. Maybe I’ll call this one “LittleTurtle’s Top Ten Recipes,” she said, laughing.
