To the editor:
On July 6 and 7, CAVAC (Cazenovia Area Volunteer Ambulance Corp.) held its annual Arts and Crafts Show at Lorenzo State Historic Site. Even with the weather presenting many challenges this year, we had more than 135 craft and food vendors participate in CAVAC’s only fundraising event of the year with an estimated 7,500 visitors attending the event over the weekend.
The huge success of the event can be attributed to the efforts of many people and organizations throughout the community. Without the emergent support of Cazenovia Equipment and their generous donation of the use of two John Deere gators, The Lincklaen House and their willingness to jump in at the last minute to provide food and beverages, the many volunteers from Eastern Hills Bible Church, Lorenzo State Historic site’s accommodating staff who diligently worked with us to overcome many challenges, as well as the New York State Police, the Cazenovia Police Department and Mayor Kurt Wheeler, we truly would not have been able to make the event a success.
Additionally, a very special recognition and thank you goes to the following for their donation of prizes for CAVAC’s Annual Craft Show raffle which is a significant part of this fundraising effort: An anonymous donor for a $500 cash prize, Howard Ryan Contracting for a kayak and paddle, Cazenovia Equipment for a John Deere Garden Cart, Cazenovia Golf Club for a golf outing for four, Matthew’s Salon for a Gift Certificate for a haircut, facial and massage, Cazenovia Cut Block for the Ann Burrell cutting board and “Cook Like a Rockstar” cookbook, The Lincklaen House for a Gift Certificate for brunch for two and The Perfect Paw for a Gift Certificate for dog grooming.
In addition to these generous supporters, many community organizations assisted CAVAC in providing logistical support for the event — Cazenovia College for supplying the tables and chairs, Cazenovia Country Club for the use of their golf carts, Tops for their donation of donuts and Gene and Mary Smith of Hannay Farms for the much enjoyed display of their miniature horses.
