Energy Challenge a success

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

As is true of many things, it takes a whole village to make an Energy Challenge work.

To the 11 teams and 66 households who participated in Skaneateles’ first-ever Energy Challenge this spring: Thank you, and congratulations! We all learned a few things, made some new friends and had lots of laughs, too. All in all, a good deal for each of us as well as for the environment.

And to all the local businesses and supporters who helped us: thank you so much for the wonderful array of donated “participation prizes.” Everyone who completed the Energy Challenge and attended Sustainable Skaneateles’ celebration at the Creamery was eligible for one of these prizes. We really had a great time giving them away:Snakeoil Glassworks: Hand-made paperweight, Denise Rhoads: 50-gallon rain barrel, Mary and John Menapace: Two-hour tour on the Milfoil Boat, Kathy Palmieri: Gourmet cake-and-prosecco dessert, Skaneateles YMCA:Three-month membership, Skaneateles Town Center: $50 gift certificate, UniteTwoDesign: Pipe cradle wine rack, Chamber of Commerce: Antique and Classic Boat Show posters, Anonymous: Elderberry Pond: dinner for two.

We are so grateful to all of our donors for their quick willingness to pitch in and help, and for all the fine work they do, all year long.

Thank you, participants and donors all, for making the spring 2013 Energy Challenge such a success!
