Combined, Cicero pitchers threw 23 innings without giving up a single earned run. They combined for 13 strikeouts and gave up only 13 total hits.
At the plate, DeLuca, Kapcinski, Joe Bodnar and Owen Dziados (both from C-NS) provided most of the firepower for the Dawgs.
For the tournament, DeLuca went five-for-10 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBIs. Kapcinski went six-for-10 with three doubles, three runs scored, an RBI, stolen base, and scored the championship-winning run in the bottom of the ninth against Dix Hills.
Bodnar went five-for-12 with a run scored and a stolen base, and Dziados went five-for-eight with a double, two runs scored, and RBI and stolen base.
Other offensive highlights included Paul Ludden going three-for-nine with two runs scored and two RBIs, and also shinthree would-be base stealers from behind the plate. Jesse Farabee, went two-for-five with a double, run scored and three RBIs.
On the season, the Dawgs have accumulated a 19-3 record, including games played in the District 8 Little League season and recent tournaments played in Darien Lake and Niagara Falls. The team is coached by Ken Dubois, Kurt DeLuca and Mark Kapcinski – all from Cicero.
