LETTERS: What is Barclay’s value

— What does our NYS Assemblyman Will Barclay do for his $75,000+ salary?

As he reports in the Messenger (Jan. 2 edition), there are ways to fight holiday depression. You can find all of this, equally or better said, in the Sunday supplements and many magazines. Is this what a NYS Assemblyman does? I know he doesn’t write these pieces. It is done to get his name before the public.

On Jan 16 he reports (with some error) about NYS programs to develop jobs. Finally, this month on Jan. 23, we get information about some of his ‘glad's and ‘likes.’ Very foggy positions.

I am not sure if our Assemblyman supports his constituents, votes his conscience or supports his lobbyists. He took money from the gun lobby and expresses that ‘gun control’ may go too far in the Jan. 23 piece. Does the gun money generate the position?

I wish he would tell us, as does our County Legislator Derek Shepard, and especially Shepard’s predecessor, what really happens in his legislative body. Do they ever meet as a group and debate issues? What legislation does Will Barclay ever introduce or even support with a vote? What lobbyists does he meet? Why? How does he spend his time in Albany?

We need to know if we are getting value for our $75,000+.
