Girls Hornets, Red Rams complete indoor track sweep

F-M, J-D both capture league titles at SRC Arena

— What the Fayetteville-Manlius and Jamesville-DeWitt boys indoor track and field teams started, their female counterparts would finish off 24 hours later.

In one-sided manners, the girls Hornets and Red Rams won their respective divisions in Thursday night's league championship meets at SRC Arena.

F-M roared to victory in the CNY Counties League American division by picking up 195 points. J-D completed its own boys/girls sweep in the OHSL Freedom division with 158 points, holding off Homer (126 points) as East Syracuse-Minoa (82 points) settled into third place.

Christabel Ezidiegwu won three times. She rolled to a 55-meter hurdles title in 9.85 seconds, though she had just one opponent, and had more competition in the triple jump, but still won with 33 feet 8 1/2 inches, and capped her effort by clearing 4'9" with fewer misses than teammate Anna Castro to take the high jump.

The Hornets swept all three relays, including the 4x200, where Anna Perrotti, Chantel Brennan, Jordan Noble and Kelly Muller earned the victory in 1:53.18. Perrotti also ran in the 4x400 with Christine Lavoie, Michelle Duffy and Olivia Ryan as F-M prevailed in 4:14.54, just ahead of Corcoran (4:15.97).

Jillian Fanning, Katie Brislin, Alana Pearl and Mary Barger rolled to a time of 9:26.23 in the 4x800, this after Pearl (2:57.29) beat Brislin (2:57.66) in the 1,000-meter run.

But Brislin won the 600-meter run, edging Ryan, 1:40.02 to 1:40.79, while Barger earned first place in the 1,500-meter run in 4:48.62, with Duffy (4:55.79) in second. Annika Avery made her way to the top with a time of 10:26.09 in the 3,000-meter run, with Jenna Farrell (10:26.69) in the runner-up spot.

Ryan did get a victory in the 300-meter dash in 44.58 seconds. Noble was second in the 55-meter dash (7.84 seconds), with Brennan (7.91 seconds) in fourth place. Febe Oley won the long jump, going 14'9" as Megan Josephson was third. Abby Konys had the lone pole vault clearance (6'6") as Gabriella Gorgoni gave F-M a second-place shot put toss of 28' 3 1/4".
