continued Brian McLeod emerged for the Bearcats in field events,winning the triple jump with a best leap of 42 feet 1 3/4 inches as his teammate, Isaiah Lee, got fifth place. McLeod also topped 5'10" for second place in the high jump and took second in the long jump with 19'10" as Guy finished fifth for Westhill/Ludden.
Marotti cleared 11'6" in the pole vault, putting him in second place.Solvay's Frank Pucello was fourth in the shot put (42'10 3/4"), with teammate Luke Randall fifth and Westhill/Ludden's Anthony Pecoriello in sixth. The Mustangs' Brian O'Connell was fifth in the high jump.
As for West Genesee, it could only manage a fourth-place finish in the CNY Counties League National division meet with 63 points, well off Cicero-North Syracuse's winning total of 162.5 points.
The Wildcats would earn a win in the 4x800, where Jack Erhard, Logan MacNulty, Nate Conroy and Nick Garty finished in 8:31.39, beating runner-up C-NS by more than six seconds.
By himself, Conroy contended in the 1,000, finishing second (2:41.43) to Liverpool's Alex Christensen (2:39.43), while Erhard earned second place in the 600 in 1:28.26, just behind Baldiwnsville's Andy Fleming (1:27.71). Mike Lannon ran to sixth in the 3,200 and MacNulty was sixth in the mile.
Ben Brown, West Randall, Alex Hudson and Eldon Hard got to second place in the 4x200 in 1:41.50. Randall, Brown, Nick Gart and Matt Romano were third in the 4x400 in 3:46.70. Nico Rinaldo cleared 5'4" for third place in the high jump.
Individually, Brown took fourth (7.06 seconds) in the 55 sprint and Randall was fourth in the 300 (38.08 seconds), with Jack Powell fifth in the 55 hurdles and triple jump. Sean Relyea earned fifth place in the pole vault, with Ron McKnight sixth in the shot put.
All of this leads to the Section III championship meets, which take place next Wednesday (Class AA-A) and Thursday (B-C-D) at SRC Arena.
