Baldwinsville (From left) Brendan Ryan, Ellen Stevens, Mike Adao and Elaine Sartwell, members of the local organization B’ville CARES, invite qualifying residents to take advantage of a new program offering free income tax preparation. Certified VITA volunteers will make sure households making $52,000 or less a year will receive help in receiving tax credits as well as preparing and filing 2012 tax returns for free. This is a walk-in only service available from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursdays in February and March at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 2840 Cold Springs Road, Baldwinsville. Please do not call the church; all questions must be directed to B'ville CARES at 303-5017 on Thursdays only. Identification and income documents must be presented to receive service; these documents include: picture ID for each taxpayer; official Social Security Cards for all persons on tax forms; W-2's or other income documents (employment, bank, college, retirement); documents for tax credits such as mortgage and tax statements, year-end childcare statements; and bank information (routing and account numbers) for direct deposit of your refund. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a free dinner sponsored by the church from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 and March 21.
