J-D girls' rally at Corcoran falls short

Cougars hang on, beat state no. 5-ranked Rams

— Only at the end of the third quarter did J-D start to play to its normal level, with several contributions. Goodrum led the way with 13 points, while Arriell Mussi and Alyssa Robens each had nine points. Maddy Frank (eight points) and Kayleigh Cavanaugh (seven points) were close behind.

Still, J-D fell to 11-2, and would come back home Saturday to meet another powerful opponent - Gates-Chili, from Section V, who boasted the no. 7 spot in the latest state AA rankings and an undefeated mark that included a win over Cicero-North Syracuse Dec. 8 in the Proctor Classic in Utica.
