WG suffers first defeat to Warriors in six years

In the 100 butterflly, O’Donnell tore to a winning time of 55.87 seconds, well clear of the Bucs’ Leo Gorton (58.33), and in the 100 backstroke O’Donnell prevailed in 1:01.32 as part of a 1-2 Wildcat finish with Joe Amedro (1:03.58).

Mullett, meanwhile, pulled away for an impressive victory in the 200 individual medley in 2:05.93, just off Liverpool’s Garrett Clarke (2:05.65) for the best sectional effort, this before he swam the 100 breaststroke and won in a personal season-best 1:04.58.

Whiting (51.77 seconds) edged Oswego’s Alex Kemper (52.09) to win the 100 freestyle as D.J. Coomber earned 198.58 points in diving, just behind the Bucs’ Alex Carl (202.65 points).

Following the Liverpool defeat, WG is back home on Tuesday night for another league meet, this time against Cicero-North Syracuse.
