Beginner guitar lessons

Get your guitar out of the closet, blow off the dust and join us for guitar lessons. This class of group lessons covering basic chording and a variety of strums, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 16 to March 13, at Van Buren School’s music room. For participants 8 years old and up, the class will also learn some solo pieces. Participants must bring a guitar as this will be a “hands-on” hour of strumming; electric guitars are okay, but with no amp. Registration required; inquire for fee.

Women’s self defense class

Teaching the basics of kickboxing, self-defense techniques and some fitness exercises while improving awareness of personal safety, this class will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 18, 25 and March 4, at Impact Martial Arts & Fitness, 80 Smokey Hollow Road, B’ville. Participants will learn a handful of offensive strikes and also learn how to apply them in a defensive situation. No experience needed, for females 13 years old and older. Registration required; inquire for fee.

Now accepting used books
