Get a great introduction to one of Onondaga County’s local treasures as John Cecil, retired geology professor, takes us down the four trails at Beaver Lake as each season passes at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17. There is a suggested $1 donation for the program accepted at the door. All are welcome.

Master your machines
Drop in to the computer lab from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays and librarians will help you with your laptop, mobile device, ereaders or tablet computer. No registration necessary.
Tai Chih Chi
Improve your vigor and mental focus by joining Tai Chi instructor Ann Pia at 10 a.m. Saturdays, Jan. 19 and 26, for instruction in this gentle physical and mental exercise. There is no charge for these classes but registration is required. Participants should wear loose clothing and be prepared to move.
Missy keeps the ball rolling with a new series of paper craft programs starting at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21. Registration is required and there is a $20 materials charge payable at the program.
Dance party at the library
Later in the month, blow off some steam and work on your dance moves at our school holiday dance celebration Monday, Jan. 21. The first session (1 to 2 p.m.) is for kids 12 and under. Teens get their turn from 3 to 5 p.m. Music, food and lights make a party! No registration required.
Read Me a Tail
Between 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, reluctant readers can practice their decoding skills by reading to a dog in our storytime room. Appointments are for 15 minutes and you can sign up at the Children’s Desk. If no one is signed up for a time slot, appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Open Writers Group
Want to move from Facebook statuses to real writing? Join local writers at our long running support group on alternate Tuesdays. The next session will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 22.
From 1 to 5 p.m. Jan. 27 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 28.
Last Thursday Book Club
The Last Thursday book club meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, to discuss “Wait Till Next Year: A Memoir,” by Doris Kearns Goodwin. All of our groups welcome new members.
