Steadily, WG got away from Proctor in the first half, gaining a 32-19 edge. By the end of the third quarter, the lead was 48-29, and while the Wildcats’ defense slipped a bit in the late going, it had a cushion to do so.
Through it all, Fumano was red-hot, hitting on 11 field goals and seven free throws on her way to a season-best 30 points. Graveline and Melissa Bakowski managed seven points apiece. For Proctor, Domizchelle Williams led with 17 points.
Back in league play on Friday night, the Wildcats made it back-to-back wins, taking out Henninger 59-30 as it bolted out of the gate with a 26-6 first quarter and never got threatened again.
Graveline, who finished with 20 points, sparked that fast start and added more offense later. Fumano got 11 points, and though no other WG player had more than five points, all 12 that saw action got at least one point on the board.
After going to Utica Proctor on Tuesday, the Wildcats are back home Friday for a key CNY Counties League contest against fast-improving Liverpool.
