There may be a silver lining, as the “weed experts” from Cornell and DEC who attended the November meeting thought that an every-other year treatment program may be preferable as a management strategy for Cazenovia Lake. Treating larger areas also seems to result in better milfoil control. Certainly, the cost per acre to spray chemicals in limited areas (spot treatment) is substantially higher than treating larger areas.
The town, village, and CLA are committed to continuing to work together to find effective short-term and long-term measures to protect the health of the lake.
