Protecting our students

— Many people have voiced an interest in continuing the dialogue regarding enhanced security measures. The Liverpool School District Safety Committee (headed by Liverpool Central School District Safety Director Sue Walker) is the forum that currently addresses security issues. Also, each school building has a safety committee that meets monthly regarding building level issues; this input is filtered into the District Safety Committee. I would encourage people who want to engage in this discussion to attend one of these meetings or send a memo to ask your questions or state your opinions.

We want to do all that is worthwhile and reasonable in protecting our students. With this aim in mind, a healthy review of all options is in the kids’ best interest.

Dr. Richard N. Johns is the superintendent for the Liverpool Central School District.
