Spartans drop four-set title match to reigning Class A champs

— Lubenovic had 11 kills, plus nine digs and three aces. Canorro and Mackenzie Gabriel each had five kills as Olivia Chopskie added 12 digs, three kills and two aces.

For McHerron and the ESM senior class, the loss was a tough one. Some players teared up after match while others embraced teammates — some of whom played their last match together.

When the awards were done being handed out, McHerron told his players to keep their heads up.

“We played hard from the beginning to the end and that’s all I could ask from the girls,” McHerron said. “Play every single point hard and just roll the dice and see what happens out there.”
