COLUMN: From Grandma’s Kitchen - A perfect time to make pizza

Pizza sauce

4 tbsp. Olive oil

2 cloves garlic, crushed

1 can (28 oz.) crushed tomatoes

1 small whole onion

1 tsp. dried basil

2 tbsp. Sugar

salt and pepper to taste

1/2 c. Pecorino Romano cheese for pizza

In a saucepan, heat olive oil. Add crushed garlic cloves and saute briefly; do not brown. Add tomatoes, drop in the whole onion. Add basil, sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 30 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove onion (use in something else) and cool sauce before using. Bake and enjoy pizza.
