COLUMN: Library Focus - February offers classes, tax help and more

— Dog days

Read Me a Tail, held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, is a program designed to give reluctant readers a boost in skills and confidence. Your child can read aloud to a Therapy Dog for 15 minutes. Perfect for shy kids, reluctant readers or kids who just want a good listener. Come to the Children's Desk or call 635-5631 and ask for extension 225 to reserve a 15-minute session.

Midwinter movie madness

Enjoy winter break with a great selection of family friendly movies for your staycation. Come on down for film fun and free popcorn. Sit down John, Jane and everybody else to watch 1776 at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17. We’re showing this delightful musical about the beginnings of our republic in celebration of President’s Day and to begin the slate of entertainment for the school system’s midwinter break. On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the fun continues at 1 p.m. with Madagascar 3. At 1 p.m. Wednesday, The Odd Life of Timothy Green will show and at 1 p.m. Thursday we will be showing Brave, my favorite Disney Princess ever. We’ll wrap up the fun at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, with Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days.

Holiday closing

The library will be closed Monday, Feb. 18, to observe the President’s Day holiday.


The playing and trading continues from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19. This program is intended for kids in sixth grade and up.

Open Writers Group

The group’s final meeting for this month is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Midwinter music

Merry Mischief is back and the show goes on. Join us at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, for our long running presentation of live, local entertainment. Performer sign up begins at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.
