Paul, Honsinger claim individual titles for B'ville
Elements of a successful present and a glorious past were mixed together to create a memorable week for the Baldwinsville wrestling team. It was the current Bees that earned the glory during Saturday’s Section III Class AA championship meet at Cicero-North Syracuse.
WG inches closer to Division I West title
Despite its youth, and despite real struggles at different times this winter, the West Genesee ice hockey team is still on the brink of another first-place finish, and again Baldwinsville is chasing them. The Wildcats outplayed the Bees, 3-1, Saturday night at Shove Park, completing a regular-season sweep in a long-simmering rivalry.
Win gives Wildcats a five point lead for first place in division
After weather postponed the game originally scheduled for Friday, Shove Park Ice Rink in Camillus was packed with fans of both schools Saturday night to see the West Genesee Wildcats top the Baldwinsville Bees for the second time this season. After winning 3-1, the Wildcats now have a five point lead in the division that they will likely keep going into the playoffs.
Alexandria Bay denies Lakers berth in state final four
Three periods and two overtime periods were not enough to decide the Section III girls hockey championship between Skaneateles and Alexandria Bay Saturday night at Austin Park Pavilion as neither team could get on the scoreboard. It was, instead, a shoot-out that would settle matters - and it was here that the Lakers' state title dreams were denied by the Purple Ghosts, by a 2-1 margin.
Skaneateles clinches with late goal, tie at New Hartford
No, it wasn't a win, but it was still good enough. Skaneateles clinched the Division II boys’ hockey regular season league championship thanks to a 3-3 tie with New Hartford on Saturday afternoon.
Van Buren, Lysander to hold joint session at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Van Buren town hall.
Key late-season clash pushed back by snowstorm
Winter weather struck on the first day of February, pushing back the boys basketball clash between Cazenovia and Skaneateles at Buckley Gym. Instead, the two Laker sides will have to wait until Feb. 12 to make up that contest, which will take place just one day before the announcement of the Section III Class B playoff brackets - and could affect tournament seeding.
Skaneateles showdown pushed back to Feb. 11
What was already a regular-season homestretch full of significance for the Cazenovia girls basketball team, featuring next Tuesday night’s visit from undefeated Westhill, only got more interesting, thanks to the intervention of weather.
