Skaneateles schools considers new class offerings

The new strategies include:

  1. Hire a superintendent of school and continue to build a top notch administrative team.

  2. Increase professional development of faculty and staff.

  3. Raise the bar on communication with community and internally.

  4. Develop a multi-year plan for budget and facilities.

  5. Analyze educational programming and plan for ways to provide greater opportunities for students.

Some actions the district can take in the near future to put these strategies in action include expanding its participation in distance learning, getting a communications audit and making improvements to its curriculum such as offering Earth Science in eight grade, Pastel said.

The board will vote to adopt the strategies at its Dec. 17 meeting.
