Warriors get quartet of pins to stop Northstars 46-33

— These two sides were together again on Saturday - only this time the event was at C-NS, where the Northstars were hosting its annual Andersen Tournament with a field of 21 teams.

C-NS, as the hosts, got the better of Liverpool in terms of the standings, earning 83.5 points for 10th place as the Warriors, with 75.5 points, took 12th place. Fulton won the tournament with 175 points, holding off South Jefferson (159.5 points) for the top spot.

Liverpool had two wrestlers reach the finals. Nash did so at 99 pounds, beating Matt Reese (Elmira) 4-1 in the semifinals before Fulton’s Joe Abelgore beat him 8-2 in the title match. At 113, Ashkar dominated Austin Coleman (Oswego) 9-0 in the semifinals, but also would fall in the finals, Massena’s Nate Marshall edging him 2-0.

Elsewhere, the Warriors saw Sean Nadeau take sixth place at 103, with Nash (120), Ianno (126) and Wilson (220) each logging seventh-place finishes.

West had C-NS’s best finish, losing in the semifinals at 285, but recovering to beat Oswego’s Eric Doviak 3-1 in the consolation bracket to finish third. Copani (138), Norton (170) and Anoceto (220) each had fourth-place finishes, with Barber sixth at 113.

C-NS is still at home this week for matches against Auburn and Rome Free Academy, plus the annual JV Blindmen’s Tournament on Saturday. Liverpool is home to face Fayetteville-Manlius before an appearance Saturday at the Falcon Duals at Fabius-Pompey.
