COLUMN: Library focus - Celebrate the season at the library

The holidays are upon us once again and we’re here to help. Whether you’re looking to celebrate or escape the madness, we have the resources you need.

Pulling Threads

Looking for a large, well-lighted, quiet space to finish those holiday sewing projects? Look no farther join the Pulling Threads group in our community room Wednesday, Dec. 4 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Holiday calendar help

Face it most of us have more stuff than we’ll ever use but a customized family calendar is a great gift for almost anyone. Find out how to make your own at Wired Wednesday Dec. 4 at 1:30 p.m. The class is free but registration is required.

Holiday Sing Along

Come and sing along to Christmas carols and other winter holiday songs Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. The Piano Woman, Ann Barnes, will again play for us and help us through our favorite winter songs. Refreshments and lyrics provided.

Let’s Talk About It

At this first Talk About It event on Thursday Dec. 5 at 10 a.m., Art Levy will host Wayne Mahar, Chief Meteorologist for NBC 3. He will discuss topics including: are forecasts better today and why; what is relative humidity and why should we care; and the long range winter forecast. Also he’ll tell us about his work providing for animal welfare. Following the guest portion, Levy will throw the floor open for discussion of current events. The program is the first of a series that will run on the First Thursday of each month! Topics and/or guests will be posted at least one month ahead of time.

Art reception

All are invited to an art reception to meet members of Syracuse Pen Women who are exhibiting at the library during December. The reception on Thursday, Dec. 5 will include a poetry read at 7:30 p.m.
