Thank you for supporting Friends of Dave Pirro Tournament

To the editor:

July 8, 2013 marked the ninth Annual Friends of Dave Pirro Tournament. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event so successful.

We would like to personally thank the many volunteers who took many hours out of their busy lives to make the day a success. The Friends of Dave Pirro Committee could not run this event without you.

Thank you to all of the people who gave monetary donations, our corporate sponsors, hole sponsors and also to those who donated this year’s wonderful auction items. We thank you all for continuing to support us. In supporting us, you are helping to make a difference in so many lives.

We would like to also thank the many children who, along with my children, make up Dave’s Lemonade Kids. These kids have grown in so many ways and so has their determination to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Thank you also, to the entire staff of the Skaneateles Country Club, in particular Michael Doctor, Lynne Sweet and Jim Fields, who, year after year, make sure that everything runs perfectly. They do an amazing job! Also, thank you to Kristi Newton and her committee, who graciously volunteered to run the tennis portion of the tournament. They did a fantastic job! We would like to give a special thank you to the Mere Mortals band. This band has been a part of our tournament from the very beginning and we are so excited that they continue to come back year after year and make the evening so much fun!

Throughout Dave’s life, he gave so much and he would be so happy that we are making a difference and helping where it is needed. Some of the money we raised this past year helped to purchase a vehicle for a family in need of assistance; we purchased school supplies and clothes for several children; we helped make it possible for the Skaneateles Middle School Student Council to go on a $10,000 shopping spree for toys for children at Christmas; we paid for car repairs for a young mother who needed her vehicle to take her sick child to her doctor appointments; we made a donation to the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund; we also made a donation to the Upstate Cancer Center. These are just some of the things we have done this past year, and we realize that this would not be possible without the support of so many wonderful, caring people who continue to support us. You inspire us to continue moving forward in our efforts to help make life a little easier for so many people in need.
