New leadership on library board

— Old L’pool luthier

Last November, Liverpool’s longtime musical instrument repairman, Richard “Brownie” Brown, passed away at age 88. Brownie was known throughout Central New York as a man who could fix everything from French horns to violins.

Now we have Matt Kielecki (pronounced Kah-LEK-e), a talented repairman plying his trade at Family Music Center, at 914-A Old Liverpool Road.

The center’s owners, Phil and Gena de Anguera, are glad to have Matt in their employ. He previously worked for American Music & Sound and Kaysound and also was the U.S. guitar tech for Fernandez Guitars.

“For the past two calendar years, Matt has been the stringed instrument go-to professional for repairs, restorations, appraisals and lessons here at Family Music Center,” Phil said. But now Kielecki will offer in-store maintenance and plans to teach a class called “Build Your Own Stringed Instrument.” For more info or to sign up in advance for the class, call the Family Music Center at 457-7375.
