continued Then it was time for dinner and dancing. Three traditional English country dances were demonstrated by dance leader Carmen Guinta and then attendees had a shot to learn themselves. After a few repetitions, most of the guests were able to successfully learn the dance and had a great time twirling and spinning. The musical entertainment was provided by Just Joe, a local musician who played keyboard and sang.
And finally, the birthday cake was wheeled out and the entire room chimed in to sing “Happy Birthday” to Manlius. Topped with (of course) a swan, mayor Whorrall blew out the candles and the birthday celebration was officially underway.
“It’s a really exciting time for Manlius,” said Venditti. “We just had an election and there’s change going on in the village. The area is still growing and there’s just so much happening. It’s a fun place to live.”
