DeWitt Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reported that three men were arrested Sunday night for a stabbing that occurred on April 18.
On the evening of April 18, Clifford Miller (41) of Caton Dr, Dewitt, was in his apartment when he heard a knock at his front door. Miller, seeing through the doors peephole that the knock was from a male he recognized as an acquaintance, opened the door and allowed the male access to his apartment. When Miller locked the front door, the male grabbed Miller and two other males, unknown to Miller, broke open the front door.
The three males pushed Miller out of his apartment and into the apartment buildings hallway. Miller, who noticed two of the males were armed with knives, attempted to run away, however Miller was grabbed by the males and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, Miller was stabbed several times in the head, back, shoulder and hand, causing puncture wounds to Miller’s right lung and ribs. The males ran out of the apartment building and Miller phoned a friend for a ride to Crouse Hospital, where his stab wounds were treated.
Miller’s injuries did not appear life threatening according to hospital personnel. Miller did not know the name of the male he allowed into his apartment, and did not recognize the two other males.
An investigation by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was conducted and resulted in detectives arresting the following subjects for the class “B” felonies of first degree burglary, first degree robbery and first degree assault; Tyrone A. McKinney (16) of Woodland Ave in Syracuse, Cyril Swan (18) of W. Beard Ave in Syracuse and Joseph L. Cummings (25) of Hope Ave in Syracuse.
