One killed, one injured in Skaneateles collision

One Elbridge man was killed and another injured when their van collided with a tractor trailer in the town of Skaneateles shortly before 2 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24.

Patrick J. Hallinan, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene and Michael Stern, 24, sustained serious head injuries and was air lifted to the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, according to State Police.

Stern was driving a 2004 Toyota Sienna van, with Hallinan in the passenger seat, north on Jordan Road at a high rate of speed when it collided with a 2011 Kenworth Tractor-trailer which was making a left turn from Stump Road to Jordan Road.

The driver of the tractor trailer, James T. Whaley, 50, of Pulaski, was not injured in the accident.

State Police are still conducting an investigation of the cause of the accident on Wednesday afternoon.
