F-M track sweeps Auburn, Central Square

Hornets immediately take CNYCL American lead

Sarah Olick-Sutphen needed 27.7 seconds for first place in the 200 sprint. F-M swept the 4x100 (53.6 seconds), 4x400 (4:27) and 4x800 (9:50) relays as Olick-Sutphen, Howe, Ferro, Ryan, Christine Lavoie, Anna Perrotti, Natalie Zazzara, Katie Brislin and Jillian Fanning took part.

In Saturday’s meet against Central Square, rescheduled from an April 10 weather postponement, the Hornets dominated again, winning the girls meet 123-18 and stopping the Red Hawks 99.5-41.5 on the boys side.

Brislin, Ferro and Castro earned two wins apiece in the girls meet In the 3,000, Brislin ran to a time of 10:25, this after needing 5:06 to prevail in the 1,500 and teaming with Fanning, Smith and Howe for a time of 9:55 in the 4x800.

Ferro ran the 100 hurdles in 18.1 seconds, but improved to 1:14.6 in the 400 hurdles. Castro, after going 14’5 ¾” in the long jump, again reached 4’10” on her way to a long jump victory. Christabel Ezidiegwu won the triple jump (32’10”) and Savannah Pidkaminy had a top discus throw of 85’7”.

Zazzara ran the 100 in 13.4 seconds, with Perrotti first in the 200 sprint (28.3 seconds) and Ryan going 1:01.3 in the 400 sprint. Julie Barger won the 800 in 2:22 as Ryan, Zazzara, Lavoie and Smith beat the field in the 4x400 (4:20) and Perrotti, joining Lavoie, Olick-Sutphen and Zazzara, went through the 4x100 in 52.2 seconds.

Though the boys meet was closer, F-M still saw Ryan pull off another triple, going under two minutes (1:59.6, to be exact) in the 800, improving to 4:16.8 in the mile and doing the same in the 3,200, winning in 9:17.6.

Barber needed 17 seconds to win the 110 hurdles and exactly a minute to prevail in the 400 hurdles, while the sprint trio struck again, Ashley taking the 100 (11.9 seconds), Wittig the 200 (24.3 seconds) and Beeler the 400 in 51.6 seconds.

Kyle Harbour prevented a Central Square sweep in field events, winning the high jump with a clearance of 5’6”. The Hornets’ sweep of the 4x100 (46.6 seconds), 4x400 (3:41.4) and 4x800 (8:30) relays included Ryan, Beeler, Ashley, Wittig, Millar, Farrell, Greer, Beeler, Parker Noble, Kyle Barber and Ed Cheatham.
